Gosnells Town Square, Gosnells
Client: City of Gosnells
Location: Gosnells Town Centre, Perth, Western Australia
Date: 2003 - 2007
Category: Urban Design
Gosnells Town Square has become the ‘centre-piece’ of the Gosnells Town Centre Redevelopment. The layout of the square provides a strong transition from Albany Highway to Pioneer Park, and allows for major groups to gather as well as encouraging intimate use of the space.
A cascading water feature with feature ramp is the focus for the square and creates a symbolic water connection to the Canning River, and as a means to mask noise from the Albany Highway. The water supply to the Water Feature is sourced from the stormwater collected from the adjoining buildings and the Town Square itself, and filtered utilising both mechanical and natural (reed bed) filtration systems.
A focus on Universal Access, use of materials that are complementary to the Town Centre, and the introduction of integrated Artworks by Mark Datodi, completes the picture of Gosnells Town Square.
